Everyone knows that Hollywood is where the movie stars live and play. A-Lister can be seen in restaurants, shopping or just running errands. Here are some of the places that you can visit, have a great time, and just maybe, catch a glimpse of your favorite heartthrob.
Like everyone else, stars gotta eat and they go where the great food is. Restaurants like Wolfgang Puck’s at the Hotel Bel Air or the Sunset Marquis. Here are a few more:
Chateau Mormont. Located at 8221 Sunset Boulevard, this hotel and restaurant was originally built as an apartment complex in 1929 and converted into a hotel in 1931. Hollywood celebrities have flocked to the Chateau Mormont in droves, ever since. Jim Morrison moved into the hotel in 1970. The movie Somewhere was filmed here in 2010. Tim Burton, F. S Ftizgerald and Billy Wilder have worked on various projects within these walls. This hotel was also where Jim Belushi died in 1982. The restaurant and bar are wonderful venues, especially if you want to see movie stars. Britney Spears, Leonardo DiCaprio and Sandra Bullock can be seen in the dining room or just walking through the lobby. Sting has been known to sit down at the bar piano. You might even see Johnny Depp raise a glass in the Chateau Mormont.
Jitlada. Located in a strip mall at 5233 Sunset Blvd in Los Angeles, this little out-of-the-way Thai restaurant attracts stars and tourists alike. Known for it’s amazing cuisine, it’s no wonder movie star foodies love to go there. With the fragrant smells of lemon grass and basil filling the air, you might sit down next to Ryan Gosling or Mila Kunis.
Sprinkles Cupcakes on Little Santa Monica Blvd. Everyone needs a little something sweet every now and then, and the stars in Hollywood are no different. Located two blocks from Rodeo Drive, Sprinkles has more than 50 flavors of cupcakes, so there’s something for everyone. Just ask Jimmy Kimmel, Oprah Winfrey, Paris Hilton, or Jake Gyllenhaal. You just might see them in line in front of you.
Shopping is always a favorite pastime, and stars love it too. Whether it’s in Pacific Palisades or on Melrose Ave, your favorite celebrity may take a day for some retail therapy. A couple of places on your list should be:
Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. This is the most expensive street in America. Rodeo Drive is home to Harry Winston, Tiffany, Christian Dior and Georgio Armani, just to name of few of the shops that cater to the rich and famous. Walking down the street, you will see Ferraris, Porches, and Rolls Royces and you might even see the people who own them. Leonardo DiCaprio, Warren Beatty, Rod Stewart and Julia Roberts have been spotted with bags on Rodeo Drive.
The Malibu Country Mart – This little outdoor shopping center might not get much attention anywhere else. But this one is located in Malibu, where the stars live. It has restaurants, shops and a produce market specializing in fresh vegetables and fruit. Stars that have spent time at the restaurants and shops are Reese Witherspoon, Steven Spielberg, Christian Bale and John Stamos. The Malibu Country Mart is a great place to spend a relaxing afternoon window-shopping and star gazing.
Of course, there are no guarantees that you will see any real live stars strolling the streets of Los Angeles or Beverly Hills. But one place where you can walk the red carpet with Will Smith is Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum in Hollywood. Take a picture with James Bond, aka Daniel Craig. Strike a dance pose with Patrick Swayze or shout “I’ll be back!” next to Arnold Schwarzenneger. The wax figures are so life like, your friends at home may not know the difference.
Los Angeles is truly tourist’s dream. Museums, night life, great restaurants, not to mention the beaches. And if you do happen to see your favorite celebrity, well that’s just the sprinkles on your vacation cupcake!
