Starting out as a stand-up comedian in comedy bars across Toronto, Jim Carrey’s signature slapstick comedy caught the attention of comedian Rodney Dangerfield. Jim Carrey would then move to Hollywood and become a staple at The Comedy Store and the A&E television series An Evening at the Improv. Carrey debuted his act on The Tonight Show in 1983 and would continue his act throughout the 1980s. In 1990, Jim Carrey was cast in the Wayans Brothers sketch comedy show In Living Color. During his time on the show, Carrey starred in his breakthrough film role Ace Ventura: Pet Detective. The 1990s would prove lucrative for Carrey as he would star in other blockbuster hits The Mask, Batman Forever, Dumb and Dumber, and his dramatic lead in The Truman Show which earned him a Golden Globe for Best Actor. These days, Jim Carrey lives in Brentwood, CA and also has a beach house in Malibu, CA. He is an aviation enthusiast with his own private jet, Gulfstream V. Apart from his lavish lifestyle, Jim Carrey champions many causes including anti-bullying and autism research. He has also worked with St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and the Muhammad Ali Parkinson Center.
