Christie Brinkley is an American model, actress and fashion designer. Born on February 2, 1954, in Monroe, Michigan, she moved as a child to Malibu, California. After graduating from high school, she moved to Paris, France to study art. In was in Paris in 1973 that Errol Sawyer, an American photographer, discovered her and introduced her to the Elite Modeling Agency. Since then, Christie Brinkley has appeared on the covers of over 500 magazines, such as Vogue, Glamour, Rolling Stone, and 3 consecutive years on Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit Issue in 1979, 1980 and 1981.
Christie Brinkley was the face of Covergirl for 25 years, the longest of any of their spokespeople. In addition, she has been the face of other major campaigns, such as Chanel No. 19, Master Card, Got Milk?, Max Factor and Diet Coke, as well as others. Beautiful, smart and funny, she was named one of Playboy’s “100 Sexiest Women of the 20th Century” in 1998. In 2011, she ranked #16 on Men’s Health “100 Hottest Women of all Time.”
Christie Brinkley’s movie debut came in 1983 as the “Hot Woman in the Red Convertible” in National Lampoons Vacation. She reprised the role in 1997’s Vegas Vacation. She followed that with other appearances on TV shows, such as The Cosby Show, Mad About You, The Today Show, and more recently, Parks and Recreation. In 2001, she starred on Broadway, playing the part of Roxie Hart in Chicago; a role she took to London and travel with.
Brinkley has designed clothes for Simplicity Patterns, a line of eye glasses called Christie Brinkley Perspectives. She also launched a fragrance, Believe, and a jewelry line with Swank.
Christie Brinkley has 3 children and supports the Democratic Party. She is active in animal rights issues through the organization PETA.
