Bio

Joan Rivers (June 8, 1933 – September 4, 2014) was an American actress, comedian, writer, producer, and television host noted for her often controversial comedic persona — where she was alternately self-deprecating or sharply acerbic, especially toward celebrities and politicians.

Known for her acerbic wit, Rivers got her start in show business as Johnny Carson’s guest-host on the “Tonight Show” back in the 60s. Her politically incorrect style of humor has been enraging the public ever since.

The legendary comedian had quite the real estate portfolio, including a 76-acre country estate in Connecticut that she sold for $4.4 million in 2013. The country retreat had a 5,760 square foot home, with 4.5 bathrooms made primarily of marble, a rustic but roomy and well-endowed kitchen, and stone detailing on the interior walls. A barn gave the property a rural feel, while a pool house kept it high class.

But her true real estate legacy is the Manhattan penthouse. Rivers was quoted in Curbed as describing her apartment’s style to be “Louis XIV meets Fred and Ginger.”
