“Lenny” Kravitz was born Leonard Albert Kravitz on May 26, 1964, in Manhattan, NY. He is the son of Roxie Roker, who rose to fame as Helen Willis on the 1970s sitcom, The Jeffersons. By the time Lenny was 5, he knew he wanted to be a musician. After the family moved to Los Angeles for his mother’s work, he sang with the California Boys Choir for 3 years. Over the years, Kravitz learned to play the guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, and the harmonica.

A talented singer and musician, Lenny Kravitz toured with saxophones Karl Denson for five years. In addition he is also a songwriter and record producer. He wrote and produced his debut album, Let Love Rule, because he had not landed a record contract. That changed in 1988, when five recording labels tried to out bid each other to sign Kravitz. Virgin Records won.

While his debut album was popular in Europe, it didn’t see great success in the United States. Kravitz’ second album, Mama Said, in 1992, caused his popularity to spike. Not only was he singing and writing his own songs, Lenny Kravitz was also producing and writing for other artists, such as Madonna, Aerosmith and Mick Jagger.

Since his career began, Lenny Kravitz has released 10 albums, with number 11 coming out in 2017. Kravitz has 4 Grammy Awards for his music. He has acted in 14 films, most notable as Cinna in the Hunger Games Franchise. And, he has his on interior design firm, Kravitz Designs, which also features furniture.

Lenny Kravitz is divorced and has one daughter. You can find him vacationing in the Bahamas or Paris. His estimated net worth is $40 million.
