Bio

Christian Bale is one of the most talented and versatile actors on the film scene today, racking up a wide variety of roles in the last 30 years. Born on January 30, 1974, in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, England, Bale started acting in English commercials at the age of 8. His debut role was on the 1886 TV Film, Anastasia: The Mystery Of Anna. With that role, Bale moved on to The Empire Of The Sun (1987), about a young English boy lost in a Japanese internment camp. His portrayal earned him critical acclaim as a young actor. Bale was 13 years old.

Christian Bale is known for going to the extremes for his craft. He famously lost 67 pounds for his role in The Machinist in 2004. In 2000, Bale immersed himself in the role of serial killer, Patrick Bateman in American Psycho, he chose not to associate with his co-stars in order not to lose the character. Christian Bale did something similar for his role as Batman in the Christopher Nolan trilogy, Batman Begins (2005), The Dark Knight (2008), The Dark Knight Rises (2012).

Christian Bale won an Academy Award for the 2010 film, The Fighter. His roles in both American Hustle (2013) and The Big Short (2015) earned him nominations with the Academy, the Screen Actors Guild and the Golden Globes. He is presenting staring in The Promise (2017).

When he isn’t acting, Christian Bale spends time with his wife and two children, as well as supporting environmental causes such as the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, Greenpeace and the World Wildlife Fund.
