Record producer, musician and songwriter, Dr. Luke, was born Lukasz Sebastian Goowald in Providence, RI on September 26, 1973.

A self-taught guitarist, Dr. Luke attended the Manhattan School of Music for a couple of years, then landed the spot of lead guitars for Saturday Night Live’s house band in 1997; a role he would hold until 2007. Dr. Luke also produces, remixes and writes for various artists. Acts such as Arrested Development, Bon Jovi, Kelly Clarkson and Katy Perry have sung songs written or co-written by Dr. Luke. For Katy Perry, he produced her song, I Kissed A Girl, before he left SNL.

Dr. Luck has been nominated for 4 Grammy Awards and won Song Writer of the Year twice at the ASCAP Pop Music Awards, once in 2010, and again in 2011. He owns two music publishing companies; “Kasz Money Publishing,” which publishes the songs the he writes personally, and “Prescription Songs,” which publishes the songs of other writers.
