  • Joseph Paul DiMaggio, nicknamed “Joltin’ Joe” and “The Yankee Clipper”, was an American Major League Baseball center fielder who played his entire 13-year career for the New York Yankees.
  • He was born on November 25th, 1914 in Martinez, CA and died on March 8th in Hollywood, FL
  • He  set a record with his 56-game hitting streak in 1941 and won nine World Series titles during his 13 years with the New York Yankees.
  • DiMaggio thanked “the good lord” for being sold to the Yankees.
  • He is quoted saying “A ball player has to be kept hungry to become a big leaguer, that’s why no boy from a rich family has ever made the big leagues.”
