About StarMap

StarMap draws your birth chart from the real sky: where the Sun, the Moon and the planets stood at the minute and place you were born, computed rather than looked up in a table, then read in plain words. It is astrology for entertainment and self-reflection.

What you can do here

How the charts are computed

Positions are calculated for the exact moment of birth with an astronomical model of the solar system, in the tropical zodiac, with the true lunar node. Houses use the Placidus system, the one most astrologers and apps show; inside the polar circles, where Placidus cannot be drawn, StarMap uses whole-sign houses. The birth time is converted to universal time with the historical time-zone rules recorded for the birthplace, daylight saving included.

The engine is checked against the Swiss Ephemeris, the reference behind astro.com and much other astrology software: in a test of 50 random births from 1930 to 2019, every planet agreed to within 1.1 minutes of arc (a sixtieth of a degree is one minute), and the houses and angles to within 0.01 minutes.

Without a birth time a chart is cast for noon. The Sun and the planets move slowly enough that their signs almost always hold for the whole day. The Moon moves about 13 degrees a day, so on a day it changes sign it could be in either; your chart then shows both, with the local time it changed. The rising sign and the houses need the time, so they are left out rather than guessed.

Where celebrity birth data comes from

Birth dates and birthplaces come from Wikidata, the open database behind Wikipedia. Birth times are used only when Astro-Databank records one with a Rodden rating of AA (from a birth certificate or record), A (from the person or their family) or B (from a biography); that is 356 of the 6,194 people. Every chart page names its sources and links to them. StarMap takes the facts only, never anyone’s text. When a sign depends on a birth time nobody recorded, the page shows both possibilities instead of picking one.

What the readings are, and are not

The readings are written by StarMap from the placements in each chart. They are for entertainment and self-reflection: StarMap never predicts anything about health, money or legal matters, and nothing on the site is medical, financial, legal or psychological advice.

This domain’s history

Before StarMap relaunched in September 2026, starmap.com was a celebrity-homes site, with maps, guides and stories about where famous people lived, mostly in Los Angeles. Some of its old articles are kept in the archive so that links to them still work; they are the old site’s work, from before the relaunch, and are marked as such.
